Local software engineer has begun applying Git methodology to disputes with his partner, creating detailed commit messages for each point raised during disagreements and maintaining separate branches for different argument topics.
The system includes a staging area where grievances must be reviewed before being merged into the main conversation thread. His girlfriend reportedly submitted her first pull request last Tuesday requesting he take out the trash, which remains pending review after three days.
The developer explained that he’s currently working on implementing automated conflict resolution and plans to tag major relationship milestones as releases. He has also started requiring his partner to squash commits before merging emotional discussions, claiming it keeps the relationship history clean.
When asked about the effectiveness of this approach, he noted that while merge conflicts have increased 400%, the relationship now has full documentation and rollback capabilities.
