One Bird, One Nest, Zero Truck Deliveries

One Bird, One Nest, Zero Truck Deliveries

June 14, 2026

In a heartwarming standoff between capitalism and nature, a Kansas car dealership is currently being held hostage by approximately four ounces of feathered fury — or more specifically, by the very reasonable housing needs of a single American robin.

A brand-spanking-new Ford F-250 — you know, the kind of truck that could tow a small country — has been sitting pretty at the dealership, fully sold but going absolutely nowhere, all because a robin had the audacity to build her nest directly on the pickup’s tire. The truck has been paid for, the paperwork signed, the handshakes exchanged, and yet: bird wins.

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the audacity of this particular robin. Of all the trees, shrubs, gutters, and perfectly reasonable non-vehicle surfaces available in the great state of Kansas, this tiny architect surveyed the landscape and declared, “Yes. That $50,000 truck tire. That’s my forever home.”

The dealership, to their enormous credit, has decided that the circle of life outranks their delivery schedule. The sold truck is remaining on the lot indefinitely, presumably until the eggs hatch, the chicks fledge, and the robin family relocates to somewhere slightly less motorized.

The buyer, who has not been named but deserves some kind of medal for patience, is waiting it out. Because what else do you do when Mother Nature parks herself on your new truck?

Nature: 1. Internal combustion engines: 0.
