Each man was left on a different point. One of them was a physicist, one was an engineer, one was a mathematician.
They were all told that they’d be picked back up the following week, and were left with just 1 can of tomato for their meals. The next week when the rescuers came, they were surprised to see that the physicist was calmly experimenting with sand and wood, with the empty can next to him.
They asked how’d he open the can and he said “simple, I just left it in the sun for a while, the pressure increased due to heat, and I pressed on a weak spot and the can popped open, and I just ate straight from the can like a cup.” They were surprised and went to the next guy, they also saw the can empty on the engineer’s spot. The engineer was sleeping peacefully.
They asked how’d he opened the can and he said “I made a makeshift can opener with rocks and used a coconut’s shell as a spoon” They went to the math guy’s end and saw him not moving, he was dead. And they found a piece of rock next to him and it just had a sentence repeating “let’s assume the can is open.”
